For me, this was the prettiest and most well kept of all the covered bridges I visited. It is a destination stop for many tourists, although I was mostly alone there. This was the only bridge I visited that was specifically built to safely accommodate both vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and is in fact the only one west of the Mississippi River. It serves as a connection from the town of Westfir, OR to a beautiful park, just across the North Fork of the Middle Fork or the Wilamette River. It is one of a few of the state's covered bridges that is lighted at night. Oregon's longest covered bridge at 180 feet. A nearby railroad trestle adds nicely to the beautiful scenery. It was built during WW II in 1944. It was originally built to serve as a connection between a lumber mill and its office.
